Јелена савладала Шведову
На терен ушла као највећи фаворит.
У дуел против 50. тенисерке света Јанковић је ушла као фавориткиња, али се знало да то неће бити лак меч, јер је Казахстанка успела да је победи на овогодишњем УС Опену у Њујорку.
Репрезентативка Србије прва је стекла предност, пошто је у четвртом гему направила брејк и повела 3:1, а потом на свој сервис и 4:1. Шведова је, међутим, успела да узврати и са три добијена гема заредом стигла је до изједначења.
У финишу сета Јанковић је имала више нерава, па је у десетом гему још једном противници одузела сервис и повела у мечу.
Други сет одвијао се по обрасцу првог, само са измењеним улогама. Шведова је брејк направила већ у првом гему и предност је одржавала до осмог, када је Јанковић успела да изједначи на 4:4.
Када се очекивало да наша тенисерка искористи психолошку предност и приведе меч крају, Шведова је у 11. гему направила нови брејк, повела 6:5 и касније искористила свој сервис за изједначење у мечу.
У трећем сету се очекивала велика борба, али се показало да није било неизвесности. Јанковић је почела да игра као пепорођена, погађала је и најтеже ударце и веома брзо је са два брејка повела 5:0. Све што је грогирана Шведова успела да уради било је освајање почасног гема.
У другом колу Јанковић ће играти против 41. тенисерке света Чехиње Луси Сафарове, против које до сада има стопостотан учинак, јер је добла сва три међусобна дуела. Њих две су последњи пут играле прошле године у Мајамији и Јанковић је победила резултатом 6:2, 6:1.
